Joice Marie (2012) is a freelance artist, designer, and songwriter who lives in Cornish, New Hampshire. She studied independently and with local artists taking classes through Lebanon College in New Hampshire. In 1988 she was introduced to ‘plein air’ painting and the work of Georgia O’Keeffe, by artist Gary Hamel, who instructed a water color class and ‘Art Group’ who met and exhibited work locally. Her interest in painting outdoors, the ocean, and southwest landscapes took a huge step forward in importance from these times. Her first solo show of fine art paintings was at Designer Gold in Lebanon, New Hampshire in 1990. She continues to exhibit in Vermont and New Hampshire today working from her own Home Studio. She has simultaneously worked as a Hooked Rug Designer for Claire Murray for 15 years. She also writes songs, plays guitar, and sings, performing at local venues. Her art pieces are in many private collections, including the Cornish Elementary School and a Mural painting in the Cornish New Hampshire US Post Office. She has designs for Stave Puzzle Company, made Commission Portraits, logos, signs, and various packaging products.
