When you have a “sense of place,” what, exactly, do you have? In this workshop we will trace the history of the “sense of place” concept back through two centuries. Then, we’ll each explore our own sense of place, recreating places we love on the page. Wendy Call, current Artist in Residence at Everglades National Park, has spent time in residence at national parks in all four corners of the continental U.S. Everyone who attends this workshop will receive a gift copy of Wendy Call’s “essay chapbook,” published by a park in Vermont.

We’ll draw inspiration from the Rubell Family Collection and visit the neighboring Casa Lin garden. Participants are encouraged to bring pen and paper. This workshop is free and open to all levels of experience.
