Visit November AIRIE Fellow Regina Jestrow at her Everglades studio from 4-9 PM on Thursday, November 20 to see the work she’s done during her residency, all inspired by this magical place. On display will be the beginnings of frottage pieces, paintings and sculptural works.
About the artist: Regina Jestrow is a multidisciplinary artist focusing in fibers arts, with subject matters of quilts and family heritage, along with repeat patterns and geometry in nature.
Car pooling isn’t only the most fun way to drive, it saves you money & gas, and makes that hour drive feel like a breeze.
Driving Directions: Enter Everglades National Park via the southern (Homestead) entrance. After passing the park boundary sign “Everglades National Park” on your right, continue straight for a 1⁄4 mile and pass the turn off for the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center on your right. Once past the Visitor Center, take your very next left turn (the turn is immediate and before you get to the Fee Gate). The sign at the turn will say “park personnel only”. Drive on this road, through the pines, until it opens up into a housing area. Once it opens up, take your first left and drive past two houses…then take your first right (you will see a row of mailboxes at this turn). Past the mailboxes and turn right. Follow the road to the left in front of a long housing unit. Your unit is the second one down, 155B.
Park in the pullout or on the grass.
