Reception and Artist Tour with Harumi Abe
October 21 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Solo exhibition by Harumi Abe: I Love You Now, I Love Your During, I Love Your After
On view September 12th – November 9th, 2018
Shakkei 借景 , a Japanese term describing 17th century borrowed scenery, is the principle for incorporating background landscape into the composition of a garden found in traditional East Asian garden design. In this exhibition of abstract paintings, layered landscapes and memories emerge as fresh perspectives on Florida and Japan. Abe paints impressive visual topography of her inner self and sense of belonging to both places.
Harumi Abe is a visual artist born in Japan, who holds an MFA from FIU and has taught at the Savannah College of Art and Design, as well as other colleges in South Florida. She has exhibited extensively at venues in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, and her works are collected by the Girls Club, Liza and Arturo Mosquera and other private patrons. She was an AIRIE Fellow in 2013.
