Artist Talk + AIRIE Application Q&A

April 23 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Artists in Residence in Everglades’ April Fellows Courtney Scheu and Itamar Freed for an artist talk, followed by a 2020 AIRIE Application Q&A session during happy hour at Gramps in Wynwood, Miami.

Itamar Freed, visual artist/photographer, and Courtney Scheu, choreographer, work together on collaborative projects and performances. Based in between London and New York, the duo comes to Miami via a recent residency in the Australian Outback.

During their stay with AIRIE, they plan to observe, experience and record the sounds, sights and movements of the ebb and flow of natural wildlife in the Everglades National Park, in hopes to translate and decode this information into interdisciplinary mixed media work including castings, cyanotypes, painting, projection and prints, weaving movement in and out of composed images and video footage.

6:30pm – Artist Talk
Hear from Scheu and Freed as they share insight into their collaborative process, their current research and their experience as an Artist in Residence in Everglades.

7:30pm – Application Q&A
Following the artist talk, hear from Interim Executive Director Sarah Michelle Rupert about the current 2020 AIRIE Application. Along with current and past AIRIE residents, she will address questions and share experiences of working in the Everglades.

The 2020 AIRIE Application is available at www.airie.org/apply.
