A Letter to the AIRIE Community on the
2024 Fellowship Season

AIRIE and the Everglades National Park hosted artist fellows during our 2024 residency season from January - July 2024. The AIRIE Cabin, originally built in the 1950s, is now undergoing a significant renovation. The Park is updating the cabin with new interiors, a roof, and more. We are excited for our remaining 2024 AIRIE Fellows to join us as part of the 25th Anniversary Season, and Everglades National Park Superintendent Pedro Ramos shared his commitment to providing the optimal experience for each artist to fulfill our shared mission of providing an inspiring and affirming space for all and stated:

“Since the founding of AIRIE in 2001, we have developed a strong partnership that has brought over 220 artists to the Park. Everglades National Park is committed to continuing to provide the artists with a valuable experience so that they may engage with Park visitors and audiences worldwide. We are excited for the next Open Call and to welcome the 25th-anniversary cohort.” - Superintendent Pedro Ramos

Everglades National Park has continuously demonstrated their commitment to our artists-in-residence program, and we at AIRIE want to express our heartfelt gratitude for their efforts to enhance the residency experience. The 25th Anniversary Season promises to be filled with celebrations in recognition of the organizations, community partners, alumni, and friends who have been part of the 25-year journey thus far. Stay tuned for announcements regarding the 2025 Fellowship, and thank you for your continued support of AIRIE.

Sincerely,
Riyaad Seecharan
AIRIE Board President

Thank You to Our 2024 AIRIE Fellows!

In 2023, AIRIE received more than 200 applications for its 2024 residency program, reflecting our deepened commitment to supporting artists whose work will impact and elevate issues surrounding environmental, climate, and racial justice through art and efforts to help preserve the Everglades and make the outdoors accessible for all.

During their 2024 residences, each AIRIE Fellow interacted with the prompt, How Do You Define Innovative Storytelling? How Can This Innovation Be Used As A Tool To Educate, Preserve, And Celebrate The Natural Environment?
