At the bottom of this page, you will see the AIRIE Residency Handbook with everything you need to prepare for residency. Directly below, see a step by step guide to your AIRIE experience from “Before Your Residency” to “After Your Residency.” Please also review the Everglades National Park Regulations and AIRIE Residency Requirements.

The Everglades National Park is a remarkable place, unique in the world for its dynamic ecosystems and wildlife, and the National Park Service is eager to have you in the park. However, there are key guidelines for engagement and your time in residence.
Please read the following carefully:
Artists are required to respect Park Regulations. You cannot bring natural, organic materials to the Park, should not use organic materials from the Park in creating work, and cannot remove any natural materials from the Park.
Your work must not involve ground disturbances or manipulation of wildlife in any way. It is your responsibility to be informed of Park rules and to follow them. Projects within the park should be discussed in advance. If you have questions about the environmental impact of your work, you must consult with ENP and AIRIE in advance.
Volunteer Hours | Interaction with visitors: Each AIRIE resident is asked to volunteer a few hours to interact with interested Park visitors and staff during the residency. These interactions may take the form of lectures, exhibitions, demonstrations, performances, “art walks” equipped with cameras or sketchbooks, or mini-workshops. These outreach activities are programmed in collaboration with ENP and the Residency Coordinator.
For any other questions regarding Park Regulations, please email Daniel Blankenship at daniel_blankenship@nps.gov

These interactions may take the form of lectures, demonstrations, performances, “art walks” equipped with cameras or sketchbooks, or mini workshops.
These outreach activities are programmed in collaboration with ENP and the AIRIE Residency Coordinator and planned in advance of arrival. (see page 19)
